After Care Program

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)

District ELOP PLAN 2025

Our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) provides a safe, supportive, and engaging after school environment for students at SunRidge. Operated in partnership with the Sonoma County Family YMCA, the program is designed to encourage each student’s academic, social, emotional, and personal growth.

Children have time for hands-on learning activities, space to play and connect positively with others, and opportunities that spark creativity, problem solving, and exploration. We strive to create a familiar, welcoming space where students feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

Our Expanded Learning After School Program is designed to encourage each student’s academic, social, emotional, and personal growth. Children have time for engaging, hands on learning activities; space to play and connect positively with others; and opportunities that spark creativity, problem solving, and exploration. We strive to create a familiar, welcoming space where students feel safe, confident, and excited to learn.

This student focused program complements the school day by reinforcing, not duplicating, what’s learned in class. We celebrate diversity, practice cultural humility, and provide opportunities for students to strengthen leadership skills, build healthy habits, and grow as whole individuals. Our multi-age setting allows students to learn, collaborate, and play alongside peers of different ages.

The program operates every school day from dismissal until 5:30 PM.

Sonoma County YMCA Program Philosophy

The YMCA offers a safe, well supervised space that blends educational, enrichment, and recreational opportunities. Each afternoon, students can choose from activities such as homework support, sports, cooking, games, STEM challenges, and arts & crafts projects.

Our After School Programs are built to help children reach their full potential by providing a supportive, engaging, and fun environment where they can grow socially, academically, physically, and emotionally.

Program goals include:
  • Creating enriching, age appropriate activities through guided recreation and learning.
  • Building self-confidence and developing socialization skills.
  • Supporting growth in health & nutrition, physical fitness, skill development, relationships, self-awareness, independence, and academics.
  • Encouraging understanding of self and others in a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment.
  • Strengthening families by providing opportunities for shared experiences and community connection.
  • Offering safe, accessible, and affordable programs to meet the needs of families.

Who is Eligible for ELOP?

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) is free of charge for qualifying students. Families will receive a letter from the Twin Hills School District Office letting them know if their child is eligible.

Eligibility is determined by the California Department of Education (CDE) and includes:

  • Students in grades TK–6 who qualify for the Free or Reduced-Price Meal Program

  • English Learners

  • Foster Youth

These groups are considered “ELOP eligible” under state guidelines.

Why This Matters

  • Families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application, even if they think they may not qualify. Submitting the form helps the district confirm eligibility for ELOP and other important school funding.

  • Eligibility lists are updated regularly as applications are received and state data (CALPADS) is refreshed.

Other Students

  • As space allows, additional students may participate in ELOP on a sliding fee scale through our YMCA partner.

  • Priority enrollment is always given to students who meet the state eligibility requirements.

ELOP is more than aftercare — it also offers year-round learning and enrichment.
