SEBASTOPOL - In it's first attempt in the school's five-year history to make and enter a float in a parade, SunRidge School won first place in the Non-Profit category in Sebastopol's Apple Blossom Parade, Saturday April 21.
From School Director Mark Rice: "We are very excited to announce that SunRidge won a 1st place award for our float in the 2007 Apple Blossom parade. Special thanks go to Nedra Berns, for initiating, leading, and coordinating the entire effort. Thank you Nedra, for (once again) being one of those invaluable parents who gives so much to the school. Also thank you to Patricia Bernard and Diane Nadler who really spoke up and said they wanted us to be in the parade, Jennifer Butler who was responsible for having her nephew let us use his flatbed trailer and drive his truck to pull the trailer. These three really continued to provide the excitement that was needed to keep this project going. A very appreciative thank you to Diana Badger for being on the committee helping to pull it all together. A big thank you to all that showed up on Friday to decorate the float. Kat Ripley really stepped in and used her amazing creative skills to lead all of the students who worked so hard in creating a beautiful float. Thank you teachers for letting them out of classes to be able to work on this project. To all the people whom I have not mentioned by name, thank you so much for all the little odds and ends that you contributed to pull this off. Lastly, I want to thank all the kids that showed up to be in the parade to create such a great community event, from the little ones sitting on the float to the 6th graders who showed up dressed as fairies riding their scooters. You all truly made this a really fun day."
