SunRidge Charter School is now accepting applications for a 1st grade class teacher for the 2013-14 school year. We are a Waldorf inspired charter school serving approximately 240 students in grades K—8.  SunRidge’s talented faculty is supported by an involved parent body and a collaborative model of governance. Our first grade class is supported with a full school day assistant. Our holistic, Waldorf curriculum for 1st grade provides Specialty teachers for classes in Eurythmy, Games, Gardening, and Handwork.

Qualified Applicants must have a California Teaching Credential, or be enrolled in a credential program. Waldorf Certification, or being enrolled in an approved Waldorf certification program, is highly desirable.

We seek candidates who have an unqualified love of children, high academic standards, the ability to respect and engender the respect of students of all ages, the knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm to engage students of all temperaments and ability levels, and the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, administration, and parents. Strong skills in art, music, and/or drama are a major plus. Previous experience as a Waldorf class teacher in multiple grades is highly desired.

SunRidge School is located on two campuses (one in-town, and the other our country farm) in the small town of Sebastopol, California. Sebastopol is one hour north of San Francisco, 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, in the coastal hills of beautiful, and progressive, Sonoma County. Our teachers are employees of the Twin Hills School District and receive a competitive pay and benefit package as per district policy. Teachers receive annual step pay increases in addition to periodic cost of living increases, and participate in the State Teachers Retirement System.
