A Typical Day at SunRidge

Every day at SunRidge begins with the ringing of the old-fashioned school bell.  Students are welcomed individually into the classroom by a handshake and a personal welcome by their teacher. This is followed by a verse recited by the whole class to help the group become present with each other and to calm their minds for learning.  Classrooms are decorated with beauty in mind and chalkboards are trimmed with artfully carved wood.  Only natural materials are used in the classrooms and all families are asked to limit their child’s exposure to mass media.

Children are guided to learn by honoring their innate love of learning and by deepening the curriculum into a whole-body experience.  This makes learning at SunRidge fun as well as academically rich.  For example, children are taught lessons through singing; practice their multiplication tables by bouncing balls; participate in hands-on science experiments; and are encouraged to get enough sleep to not only rest the body, but to foster dream time which assists in more deeply understanding the day’s learnings.   These methods bring the lessons into the child’s whole being for true learning and life-long retention.

There is magic at SunRidge School. It is the magic of a new generation being given the gift of an education that inspires them to soar into the world on thewings of a formative education, self-awareness and respect for others in the circle of life.  It is our gift to humanity to nurture the imaginations of these children to bring forth newer and better versions of what we can become as human beings.
